Shelter from the Storm: Resources for Early Care and Education Professionals

Shelter from the Storm Professional Resource

ZERO TO THREE and Save the Children have partnered together to provide early care and education professionals Shelter from the Storm: A Guide for Early Care and Education Providers, a resource to help plan for the emotional response to potential disasters, and guidance for supporting young children and their families following a community-wide disaster.

Every day, teachers do so much to nurture and support babies and toddlers. When disaster looms, teachers are prepared to get their charges to safety and to keep them safe. Emotional safety is a big part of this response! . Whether it is a weather disaster such as a tornado or hurricane, or a man-made disaster, this guide will walk ECE providers through steps they can take to restore and maintain emotional safety for the children in their care, including actions to ensure teachers are remembering to take care of themselves. Shelter from the Storm: A Parent Guide is a companion resource ECE providers may offer to parents of their babies and toddlers.
