Stockton Rolls Over Neumann 23-13

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (5-2) started quickly potting 10 goals in the first period and cruised to a 23-13 win over Neumann University (7-4) on Wednesday night. Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South), Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) and Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) combined for 25 points in the game.

The goals came fast and furious to begin the match as Swedlund tallied 1:20 into the game for a 1-0 lead. The Knights answered seven seconds later to knot the game at 1-1, before Poli tallied his first of the night just six ticks after the tying score.
Capozzoli, from Brendan McHale (Montville/Montville), and Aidan Shandley (Springfield, PA/Springfield-Delco) from Poli made it 4-1 before Neumann sliced the margin to 4-2 at 4:51 of the first frame.

Stockton scored the final six goals of the period in quick fashion. Poli and Swedlund tallied 32 seconds apart, before Capozzoli, Poli and two more by Swedlund capped the first period at 10-2 in favor of the Ospreys.

Capozzoli, Swedlund and Sean Haddock (Hightstown/Hightstown) scored markers to push the margin before Neumann hit the net twice for a 13-4 lead. It was Haddock's first goal of the season. The Knights sliced the margin to 14-6 at the break, scoring four times to even Stockton's total of four in the second quarter.

The home team tallied twice more to begin the third period to slice the lead to 14-8 to start their comeback attempt. Capozzoli staved off the comeback with a score to keep the Knights at bay at 15-8 after three frames.

Stockton sealed the game with eight goals to five for Neumann to capture the contest in the final period. Noam Levy-Smith (Margate/Ocean City) and Poli with a pair of goals each, Connor Albrecht (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West), Logan Holleritter (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.), Patrick Dunleavy (Medford/Bishop Eustace) and Swedlund with one apiece nailed down the 23-13 final score.

The goals were the first of the season for Holleritter and Dunleavy. Poli tied his career high with 11 points on the night with five goals and six assists. Capozzoli scored a career-high five goals to go with a pair of helpers for a new personal best of seven points. Swedlund tallied a game-high six goals, giving him 28 (4.00 gpg) for the season.

Stockton goalkeeper Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) stopped eight shots for the win.

Tyler Horvath (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks South) won 25-35 faceoffs for an outstanding .828 winning percentage and scooped a game and career-high 17 ground balls.

Neumann was led by Drew Conlon with four goals and Rich Marshall with three markers. Net minder Jake Marchiafava kicked out 16 shots on the night.

Stockton will begin CSAC play on Saturday when the Ospreys will host Montclair State in Galloway. The match, to be played at G. Larry James Stadium is scheduled for 1 pm.
