Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (13-6, 10-2 NJAC) used a stifling defense in the first half and took a 54-34 victory over Rutgers-Camden (0-19, 0-12 NJAC).
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) led four Ospreys in double figures with 12 points, her fifth straight game in double figures.

Stockton opened the game slowly garnering an 8-6 lead after one quarter, as four different players scored a basket. The Ospreys broke the game open with a huge second frame, outscoring the Scarlet raptors 14-2 on the way to a 22-8 halftime lead. The Stockton defense held the Scarlet Raptors to just 1-24 shooting in the opening half.

Trina Deveney-Bethea (Mays Landing/Cedar Creek) and Speer topped the home team with eight and six points, respectively.

The third quarter was a high scoring affair as the teams combined for 36 points, but the Ospreys were able to maintain the double-digit lead at 41-25 heading into the final stanza.

Rutgers-Camden built on the 17 points in the third period and pressured the Ospreys throughout the final frame. The visitors closed to 47-34 with 3:15 remaining but Stockton closed out the contest as all 12 available players saw playing time with a 13-9 final frame to give Stockton the 20-point victory and their fourth win in a row.

Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood),
Madison Dulude (Sewell/Washington Twp.) and Deveney-Bethea all added 10 points each in the win. Dulude and Deveney-Bethea led the team with eight rebounds each, with Dulude setting a career-high with seven steals and Deveney-Bethea blocking a career-high six shots. Fathi dished a game-high seven assists and set a career-high with five steals.

Rutgers-Camden was led by Rahzirah Blocker who posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Stockton will finish their brief two-game home stand, when the Ospreys will face William Paterson on Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for 1 pm.
