The former director of the Red Brick Arts Center is being investigated for allegedly stealing money from the nonprofit.

Angie Callen was let go from her post in June. That’s when the city was informed of suspected financial mismanagement at the nonprofit organization.

The city estimates that the alleged theft is in excess of $150,000 from operating and non-operating bank accounts. A third party accounting firm has been hired and is examining all financial records related to the Red Brick, which the city owns.

The funds allegedly misappropriated represent, rent, taxpayer money and some funds from the nonprofit that came from grants, earned income and donations.  The district attorney’s office is investigating.
