Galloway, N.J. – Five Stockton University student-athletes were voted to the
CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Daniel Do (Galloway/Absegami) and
Darren Wan (Egg Harbor Twp./Egg Harbor Twp.) were selected for the second straight year.
Do and Wan were joined by first-time selections
Kyle Navalance (Toms River/TR North),
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca) and
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser). Competitors from the Stockton track & field and cross country programs earned Academic All-District honors for the eighth consecutive year.
Do is a senior majoring in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Chemistry with a perfect 4.0 grade point average who competed for the Osprey cross country and track & field teams. He was a three-time NJAC First Team runner in cross country who had four wins and 20 top-10 finishes in his career.
On the track, Do holds school records in the indoor 3000m run and outdoor 5000m run. He was an NJAC Second Team runner in the outdoor 5000m this season.
Do was the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars national runner-up for Male Athlete of the Year and the national sport winner for track & field/cross country this year. He also was a 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team honoree last year.
Wan is a senior with a 3.95 grade point average majoring in Business/Finance. He finished 10th in hammer throw at NCAA Outdoor Championships and won the event at the All-Atlantic Region Championships this spring. Wan also shattered the school record in hammer throw with a toss of 58.17 meters that ranked 10th in the nation during the season.
Last spring, Wan broke the 35-year-old school record in the indoor weight throw and finished the season ranked 25th in the nation. He is a four-time NJAC All-Conference performer (3 NJAC Second Team, 1 NJAC Honorable Mention) and a 2021 NJAC All-Academic First Team honoree.
Navalance is a senior with a 3.90 GPA in Biology. This spring, he broke the 23-year-old school record in the 3000m steeplechase, garnered NJAC First Team and USTFCCCA All-Region honors and ranked 34th in the nation in the event. Navalance also earned an NJAC First Team nod in cross country and was an NJAC All-Academic Second Team selection this spring.
Foley is a junior with a 3.95 GPA in Exercise Science. She was voted NJAC Outstanding Field Athlete after winning conference titles in the high jump and heptathlon to earn a pair of NJAC First Team accolades. Foley won the high jump at six of seven meets this spring and notched her second career USTFCCCA All-Region recognition.
Foley qualified for the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships in high jump, however the meet was canceled due to COVID. She was an NJAC All-Academic First Team selection this spring and USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual for the 2020 indoor season.
Preston is a junior majoring in Health Science with a perfect 4.00 GPA. She was a 2021 All-American in the pole vault, finishing fifth at NCAA Outdoor Championships with personal-best 3.75 meters. She was a two-time NJAC Field Athlete of the Week this spring as well.
Preston is a two-time NJAC All-Conference vaulter (2021 Second Team, 2019 Honorable Mention).
She has three career event wins plus four runner-up finishes and has placed third or higher in pole vault at 12 of 25 career meets. Preston also was chosen as a 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar by the publication Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the national ballot, from which CoSIDA Academic All-Americans will be selected later this month.
