Join Girlstart’s After School Program Leaders team (called STEM CREW --Creative, Resourceful, Empowered Workforce) to lead our fun, hands-on, STEM-focused after school programs in the Boston Metro Area (this is still being finalized, but will likely be in Waltham, Chelsea, and Everett). Improve your leadership and communication skills, build your problem solving and critical thinking abilities, be a positive and meaningful role model, and change the lives for girls in your area!

Girlstart After School programs meet once a week for 1-1.5 hours immediately after the school day. After School Program Leaders must be available at least 1 afternoon (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays--limited Friday options), a week. Potential Program Leaders need to be available starting around 2pm, programs typically run from 3:00-4:00pm at respective elementary schools.
Girlstart’s After School Program Leader commitment is 5-10 hours/week*. Leading an After School Program is approximately a 3 hour commitment which includes being prepared for the lesson, driving to location, leading the activity, and cleaning up. In addition to the 3 hours, STEM CREW are required to have 2 additional prep hours to review, practice, and become prepared for your lesson, and ask questions about the activity and/or classroom management. Girlstart provides all materials and lesson plans!

This is a paid, part-time position and all majors and genders are welcome.
Payrate: $15 - $18 per hour, depending on experience
Program Leader Expectations
- Lead after school curriculum focused on 4th & 5th grade science standards (curriculum provided by Girlstart)
- Manage a group of 15-20 4th and 5th grade girls
- Prepare materials and practice curriculum prior to each week (Girlstart provides materials)
- Maintain program attendance, registration, and evaluation information
- Act as Girlstart liaison to school and program girls
- Responsible for clean up after lessons
- Learn and implement the Girlstart method within all program activities
- Support additional programming within region, included materials inventory, program prep, data entry, office organization, general team support
- Facilitate classroom management techniques
- Communicate regularly with direct supervisor
- Make after school meaningful and relevant for girls
- Other duties as needed
