May is Stroke Awareness Month and members of our team met with staff and visitors to share critical information about the signs and symptoms of a stroke and when to call for help. As a NYS Dept. of Health designated Primary Stroke Center, we thank Rockland County Executive Ed Day for proclaiming May as Stroke Awareness Month in the county. #strokeawareness #BEFAST

We proudly recognize Montefiore Nyack's MICU Registered Nurse Hope Goswick for delivering life-saving emergency care at the annual Pearl River St Patrick's Day Parade. Hope jumped into action when she witnessed a member of the community experience a sudden cardiac arrest. She began CPR and continued until the EMS crews assigned to the parade detail arrived. The patient's pulse returned shortly after leaving the scene and they were conscious and alert upon arrival at the hospital. The quick action of Hope and her initiation of early CPR, combined with the teamwork of multiple on-site EMS crews, directly resulted in the saving of a life. #CPRsaveslives
