You Chose "B" Butcher – That's Incorrect!

Prior to Rocky, Sylvester Stallone was earning $36 a week as an usher.

Did you know Sylvester Stallone wrote the script for Rocky? The producers offered him an unprecedented $350,000 for the rights. It's a good thing, since Stallone had just $106 in his bank account and no car, and he sold his dog Bulkus for $50 because he couldn't afford to feed him. His financial woes were not surprising, since he was earning just $36 a week as an usher at the time.

Stallone refused to sell the rights to the script unless the producers agreed to let him star in the film. They agreed, on the condition that he continue to work as a writer without a fee, and that he work as an actor for scale. After he sold the script, he bought his dog back, and Bulkus appeared in the film as Rocky's pet.
