Stockton Wins 20-7 at USA Lacrosse Headquarters

Sparks, Md. – Stockton University (1-1) earned its first victory of the season with a 20-7 triumph over Bridgewater College (2-2) in a neutral-site game played on William G. Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse headquarters.
 
Six Ospreys scored two goals or more, led by Mary Meduri (Brigantine/OLMA) with six goals and one assist for seven points. Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern) tallied three goals and three assists for six points.
 
Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) chipped in with four goals and an assist while Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) finished with three goals, one assist, 10 draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Pascrell's 10 draw controls were one off the school record.
 
Meduri and Yannacone gave Stockton a quick 2-0 lead in the first 1:19 of the game. After Bridgewater got on the board, markers from Allie Bremer (Oakland/Indian Hills), Yannacone and Toal gave the Ospreys a 5-1 lead in the opening 12 minutes.
 
Bridgewater got one back 31 seconds into the second period before Stockton broke the game open with five straight goals, one each by Meduri, Pascrell, Yannacone, Toal and Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) for a commanding 10-2 lead.
 
Two more tallies by Meduri and one from Pascrell offset three scores by Bridgewater in the last 5:22 of the quarter for a 13-5 lead at the half. Bridgewater netted the first two goals of the third stanza for a 13-7 count, but Stockton took over from there.
 
The Ospreys reeled off the last seven goals of the game to seal the 20-7 victory. Meduri and Toal fired home two apiece, with Pascrell, Shultz and Bremer each hitting the net once. Defensively, Stockton held Bridgewater scoreless for the last 25 minutes of the contest.
 
Stockton goalkeeper Jordan Hawkes (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) notched the win with three saves. Bridgewater goalie Rachael Robinson made 19 stops as the Ospreys outshot the Eagles 50-14. Annika Benson scored twice for Bridgewater.
 
Stockton will play its third straight road game on Saturday when the Ospreys visit Drew University for a matchup that starts at noon.
