Change Your Grade Basis FAQs for Spring 2021

Beginning April 5, 2021, you will be able to go into your Student Center and modify the grade basis for your Spring 2021 courses. The ability to modify the grade basis will close on May 14, 2021.

A link to the online petition will be available above from July 1 through August 15th. The petition requires manual review and processing and it may take several weeks to update your record. Additional information regarding the petition process will be available at the end of May.

The following grading options are available for the Spring 2021 semester for most courses:

Option 1: Traditional Grading Policy (ABCDF)
Follows the traditional grading policy.

Option 2: Letter Grade/No Credit
ABC/No Credit (For Undergraduate level courses)

  • An (A, A-),( B+, B, B-), (C+, C, C-) grade will count towards GPA,
a No Credit (NC) for the course will not count towards GPA.

AB/NC (For Graduate level courses)

  • An (A, A-), (B+, B, B-) grade will count towards GPA,
a No Credit (NC) will not count towards GPA.

Note: If you don’t make a choice, you will stay in the current grading mode, which is traditional letter grading for most classes. Due to accreditation and other requirements, grading alternatives will not apply to all classes.

GRADUATING STUDENTS

If you are a graduating student in Spring 2021 you can elect to change the grade basis on your Spring 2021 courses within your Student Center through May 14, 2021 only. Changes to your record are not permitted once your degree has been awarded.

Most students will be eligible to make this change; however, depending on your academic status (i.e. international, graduate, etc.) specific terms may apply. If for this reason or any other, you aren’t sure whether to pursue alternative grading, it’s a good idea to talk with an advisor.
