Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., went to a children's detention facility in Brownsville, Texas on Monday morning and was turned away by officials.

Her visit was publicized on MSNBC, which included a trip to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility for adults in Los Fresnos, Texas. MSNBC reported the Nevada Democrat was able to gain access there.

Cortez Masto later posted the MSNBC video on Facebook, including a statement about her trip:

"I'm at the southern border in Texas this morning to demand answers from detention facilities where children are being held. I was turned away from this facility in Brownsville where I was scheduled to visit. Something is happening here that they don't want the public to know."
