Almighty and Heavenly Father, at times your ways remain hidden to us, especially in the midst of suffering and loss. Yet you promise to provide for all our needs and to bring us comfort. Help us, dear Lord, to cling to this promise even as we experience pain. We lift before you all those who have suffered loss in the earthquakes this day. Guide all rescue efforts. Protect all who work to save others. Provide peace and comfort for all who survive and yet grieve, holding them as only you can. Reach down through all your servants who offer help to both body and soul. Make a way for your light to shine in this present darkness through care and compassion, Word and deed, especially from your church, the Light on a Hill. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Seasonal Devotions for Lent are available at lhm.org/lent in both English and Spanish, as well as in French, and Chinese from our ministry center in Canada. Perfect for personal reflection or to share with family, friends, and congregations, these seasonal meditations will help prepare you to celebrate the true meaning of the season. In "Servant of the Lord," we see Jesus as God’s Son and our Redeemer. He has made the Heavenly Father known to us. Proclaiming the kingdom of God, Jesus served us—lovingly, patiently, compassionately—as He died for our sins and rose three days later in Easter victory.

Dr. Kari Vo, one of our devotional writers at Lutheran Hour Ministries, was recently invited by the Pacific Southwest District Lutheran Women's Missionary League to keynote at their Women's Retreat in Phoenix. Dr. Vo led three sessions, encouraging practices to lean into prayer and bible reading, as well as sharing how she develops devotions. We appreciated the opportunity to learn from those there and be present in the experience! lhm.org/devotions

God of all comfort and peace, we lift before you all those affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California. Please protect all those who stand in harm’s way, giving them energy and strength to continue their courageous work. Bless those who have suffered loss with hope for recovery and open hearts to receive your care through those who offer help of every kind. Empower your followers to serve their neighbors in need, that the light of your Kingdom might shine in these dark times. Amen

For the 74th time in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses 136th year running, Lutheran Hour Ministries was humbled to present the 2025 Lutheran Hour Ministries float, "Behold! Jesus the Savior is Born" to the world on January 1, 2025. Under the Tournament of Roses theme "Best Day Ever," this year’s float displays two heralding angels calling viewers to a display of the birth of Jesus and to the Church where Jesus is found. The familiar Christmas tree and lights are symbolic of Jesus’ birth and everlasting life. Additionally, the stained glass windows on the church will highlight other best days: Jesus’ Baptism, Jesus the Good Shepherd, Jesus and the children, Easter, the ascending Christ and the returning King. We invite you to meet-or-meet anew the source of hope and joy that cannot be taken away by anything the world throws at you. We are grateful to the Southern California District LLL, Lutheran Hour Ministries Float Committee, and the Petal Pushers for carrying on a mission to provide a Gospel witness to viewers everywhere, from the 5.5 mile parade route in Pasadena to televisions and computers around the world, as the only Christian float in the parade. We are indebted to Dick and Lynn Gast and their daughters for their continued vision, tireless efforts, and boundless energy as this is their 34th year spearheading the Lutheran Hour Ministries float. God Bless, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! LHM.org
