Premiere | Shannon LaBrie – Raining Hallelujah

Although it was written in 2019, Shannon LaBrie’s ‘Raining Hallelujah’ is filled with the sort of evergreen resilience that is very much needed in 2020. In times as uncertain as these, the Americana artist’s hearty vocals resonate with a driving message of hope. It’s a reminder that kindness and healing is just around the bend, that tomorrow will be kinder, packaged in intimate roots rock that speaks straight to the heart of overarching society. Inspiriting as it is for its message, it’s also just genuinely solid songwriting and arranging, culminating in a forward-moving groove that gets us excited for LaBrie’s new album, Building (25 Sep.).

‘Raining Hallelujah’

Regret is a howling wolf
Crying fool
You’re not worth saving
Sadness is the weight of stones
Pulling me down
Deep waters calling
Grief is a candle blown
Nothing to see
Once twilights faded

It’s hard to keep believing

Above every storm
A cloudless sky is
Waiting for me and you
And It’s raining hallelujah
It’s raining hallelujah

Joy is a crashing wave
A laughing child
A gospel choir
Love is a lighting strike
Straight to the heart
A death defier
Hope takes the feather high
It spreads the wing
Makes us a flyer
Higher and higher

Above every storm
A cloudless sky is
Waiting for me and you
It’s raining hallelujah
It’s raining hallelujah

We’re all waiting for the fog to lift
Knowing that the sun still shines
We wanna taste the sweetness on our lips
Breath in that brave blue high

Above every storm
A cloudless sky is
Waiting for me and you
Above every storm
A cloudless sky is
Waiting for me and you
And it’s raining hallelujah
It’s raining hallelujah
