Rashaad Pearson, a dancer and cultural historian, will spend this residency creating “Time Machine: Black American Freestyle Dance,” a project that seeks to bridge the past and the present, using the power of dance to explore the enduring legacy of Black American culture.  

Everything's coming up...Sheldon? Born at the start of the baby boom in postwar Brooklyn, Sheldon Feldman always obeyed his mother. He tried to please his wife. But after seventy-some years playing it safe, small, closeted and quiet, it’s Sheldon’s turn and he’s ready to sing out.  

It's Frida’s Saturn return, and the stars have served her: Joanie. For one night only, RAWRA with Feeling debuts multi-genre music and screenplay excerpts from Eat Me, Joanie about one late-bloomer reparenting their inner drag monster amidst crisis. In this Atlas Arts Lab staged reading and music showcase, RAWRA invites the audience to observe, question, and alchemize their inner darkness toward outward good.

Color Me (Curly): Detangled Stories is a multidisciplinary performance that explores the complex cultural, emotional, and political landscape of Black hair. Rooted in storytelling, this original work amplifies various narratives through a fusion of movement, voice, and sound—creating an intimate and powerful reflection on Black identity.
