Gateway85 Gwinnett CID reposted this
In our July newsletter, Gateway85 Gwinnett CID highlights major updates across the district, including the completion of the Financial Drive sidewalk, vibrant new landscaping that helps make our interchanges some of the best in Georgia and progress on Gwinnett County Government’s Small Area Plan for Jimmy Carter Boulevard — the corridor at the heart of our district. We’re also featuring a spotlight on Engelman's Bakery, a longtime business on Best Friend Road that has been serving up quality and tradition for more than 40 years. Plus, we break down what Georgia Power Company’s newly approved 2025 Integrated Resource Plan means for long-term business growth and energy reliability across the region. Thank you to our partners at Georgia Power, Gibson Landscape and the many property and business owners who continue to help make Gateway85 a thriving, connected place to do business. The Gateway85 CID board of directors recently appointed Robert Michener as interim executive director. With 17 years of dedicated service to the CID, Robert brings a wealth of institutional knowledge, hands-on project expertise and a strong commitment to the local community. In his previous role as director of operations, Robert was instrumental in overseeing transportation enhancements, public safety initiatives, beautification projects and more. His leadership has helped shape many of the CID’s most impactful efforts. “As a longtime Gwinnett resident, I have seen firsthand how much this community has grown and evolved in the last two decades,” said Michener. “It’s an honor to step into this role and serve the CID during a time of transition and opportunity. The district has great momentum, and I’m excited to continue contributing to Gateway85’s next era of growth.” The CID board officers will lead a search to evaluate permanent executive leadership, with updates to be shared in the coming months.

What does the rise of smart logistics mean for Gateway85? A recent The Wall Street Journal article spotlights a major breakthrough in warehouse automation: robots capable of fully unloading trailers — long considered the “holy grail” of logistics — are now actively deployed, handling up to 580 cases per hour and quickly scaling. With nearly 50% of large warehouses expected to implement robotics by 2025, and the market projected to grow 18.2% annually through 2032, the impact is clear. AI-powered maintenance is reducing downtime by up to 50%, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are streamlining operations and increasing throughput by 40%. For Gateway85, this shift signals growing demand for advanced infrastructure, tech-enabled spaces and a workforce ready to support the next generation of logistics. Read more on the Gateway85 website:
