Summer School Credit Recovery has limited seating and is a first-come, first-served program. If your student needs to attend, you are strongly urged to submit the online application (
click here) as soon as possible. Summer Credit Recovery applications will be accepted through Monday, May 27, 2024.
Summer School will run Monday - Friday from June 3 - June 28, 2024. The credit recovery program is designed for students at any grade level (9-12th) who have failed one or more core academic courses with a final average of 50% or higher or who have fallen behind in their overall credits needed for graduation. Summer Credit Recovery will be offered as an AM Session from 8 - 11 a.m. or as a PM Session from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and expected to physically attend 1/2 (half) days either for the AM Session or PM Session at Dobyns-Bennett High School, Monday-Friday, in order to successfully earn credit. Individual course offerings will be available during both AM and PM sessions in one-hour instructional periods.
The following courses will be available in this year's Summer School Credit Recovery Program: English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12, Algebra I B, Geometry, Algebra II B, Bridge math, Environmental science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, U.S. Government, U.S. History, Economics, Personal Finance, and World History.
Physical attendance from June 3 - June 28 is mandatory in this summer's Credit Recovery Program. If your student cannot be present all four weeks of programming, please do not sign him/her up to participate. Failure to physically attend on assigned days and times may result in immediate dismissal from the credit recovery program. Transportation will be provided if needed if a student's address falls within the normal KCS bus service area. Both breakfast and lunch can be provided upon request at no cost.
