You could say they’re legen-dairy.

Three ice cream joints in Pennsylvania have recently been ranked by Yelp among the country’s top 100.

Yelp released it’s “Top 100 US Ice Cream Shops 2023″ list just in time for things to heat up temperature-wise (and also to observe National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 26).

The list puts on a full display of glorious, twisty soft serves and smooth scoops, all of which feature toppings ranging from sprinkles to cherries to whipped cream. And not only did Yelp painstakingly list each and every ice cream joint they believe to be the creamery de la creme in the nation, but also some trends they’re seeing in the industry, such as the rise in popularity in purple-colored ice creams.

So, where are these Pennsylvania locations mentioned at the start of this article? Well, those would be: Page’s in Pittsburgh (ranked 16th overall); Fox Meadows Creamery in Ephrata (ranked 22nd); and the Matcha Panda Cafe in Philadelphia (number 92).

Moo Moo Cows in Baltimore, Md., gets an honorable mention here as well, as one of its owners, Will Runnembaun, comes “from a 3rd-generation Pennsylvania dairy and creamery.”

The tippy-top ranked ice cream spot, however, sits in the heartland of Omaha, Neb.: Coneflower Creamery.

“What happens when 2 heartland pastry chefs open an ice cream shop?” Yelp inquires. “You get a ‘farm-to-cone’ experience with just-picked seasonal flavors like Sun-Ripened Strawberry and Sweet Corn, plus decadent ice cream desserts like Blackstone Butter Brick filled with house-made toffee.”

Nebraska, here we come.
