Philadelphia Performing Artists' Emergency Fund Application
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU APPLIED PRIOR TO NOON ON FRIDAY, MARCH 13TH, AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED A PAYMENT, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR APPLICATION AND YOU MUST RESUBMIT. PLEASE READ THE NEW GUIDELINES (POSTED BELOW) CAREFULLY.

The Philadelphia Performing Artists' Emergency Fund was created amid the COVID-19 outbreak to assist performing artists whose income has been impacted by show cancellations, slowing ticket sales, and/or low turnout during this pandemic. We are coming together as a community to lift each other up, and ensure we all make it through this together. Emergency Funds can be requested by any Cabaret, Drag, Burlesque, Theater, or performance artists facing a financial hardship caused by COVID-19.

Funds are limited to the amount of money we were able to raise through fundraising, so please also share and promote our GoFundMe page on social media if you are requesting funds. GoFundMe Link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/philly-performance-artist-fund

We will do our best to equitably and fairly distribute funds to those in need, and will be as transparent about the distribution of funds as we can be, while respecting the privacy of those requesting funds. No one outside of the folks managing the fund will be able to see the information provided in this form. Priority will be given to the most marginalized members of our community, so trans and poc performers to the front!

Guidelines for the Emergency Fund:

1.    You must be a performer who is currently in Philadelphia, works gigs mostly in Philadelphia, or be a Philadelphia resident who is stranded outside of Philadelphia because you were on tour.
2. The Emergency Fund is not a replacement of income, and should only be used for urgent expenses. Please continue to work side hustles and tap into your own networks for direct donations. This should be used when those efforts fall short.
3. Submissions should be made to cover specific, quantifiable expenses (For example: needing money to feed your children, needing $50 to fill urgent prescription medications {HRT and Psych Medications qualify as urgent medications}, etc.). You should not submit until you know exactly how much funding is needed.
4. We will be capping each individual request at $250 to ensure that the fund is not depleted too quickly and funds can be spread around to the most people.
5. Artists may submit more than once, as we recognize that some members of our community are more vulnerable than others and may face multiple emergencies over the course of this pandemic.
6. We will be checking this form daily, but if you submit a request for an expense that is extremely time sensitive, please email bearytylermoore@gmail.com to ensure we can process your request faster.
7.    Rent and utility bills will no longer be considered an emergency because evictions and utility shut-offs are currently illegal. We would also like to note that debt is not considered an emergency situation. We understand that there is still financial stress involved with not being able to pay bills, but there are other emergencies (like people not having access to food and medication) that are more pressing.

Submissions will be reviewed daily and funds will be sent out via venmo, paypal, and cashapp. We will be proactively moving funds from the GoFundMe into the fund bank account to ensure funds are available, but please understand that bank transfers may result in delays if there is a high volume of requests.

Much Love,
