BAY AREA THRASHERS HATCHET RELAUNCH CATALOG DIGITALLY

This Friday marks the band’s previous 3 albums back online under their control

M-Theory Audio is pleased to cooperate with HATCHET to make more of their catalog available again. This Friday, May 10th the band will have their last three albums on all online streaming/download platforms and under their control.

In 2022 we cooperated with Hatchet and Metal Blade Records to bring you a licensed limited-edition version of their debut album ‘Awaiting Evil’ – the first time it appeared on vinyl. Now we bring you digital versions of the band’s next three albums – 2013’s ‘Dawn of the End’ and 2015’s ‘Fear Beyond Lunacy’ (both originally released by The End Records) and 2018’s ‘Dying to Exist’ (issued then by Combat Records). Understood that 2 of these records were still online, despite expired rights, but these are the official versions under the group’s control and for which they will be paid.

“One of the most forgotten yet important things an artist can do is secure their master and publishing rights to their own music. A lot of artists consciously give this up early in their music career in lieu of getting signed, being on a label and having the mindset of going as far as you can with this potential support. It's a mindset as old as the music industry has existed and artists have desired to be a part of that industry. It's not wrong. It's natural as a young artist to want to push your exposure and boundaries as far as it can and to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak,” explains singer/guitarist Julz Ramos. “Hatchet were no different when we were starting out and much into our 2nd and 3rd albums. Now that I am older and reflect back, I'm super relieved to have had someone looking out for our best interests and future endeavors in this capacity. It means we are now In control of our entire catalogue and the rights for all our music belong where they should be in our control!”

“We want to thank Salem Rose Music and M-Theory Audio for making this a reality for us! This means all Hatchet material should be available in the coming days on ALL digital platforms. Stream it! Download it! And stay tuned for more new music and an upcoming EP release info!”

Marco Barbieri, head of M-Theory Audio, has a lengthy history with HATCHET befriending the band in their demo days and even bringing the Bay Area group to Las Vegas for a show he booked. After the Metal Blade release, Marco worked with Julz to cooperate on a music publishing deal with Salem Rose Music which led to entrenching their relationship, shopping for a new record deal and Marco since managing the band’s career.

In the meantime, HATCHET have a new song “Leave No Soul’ also online, or watch the video HERE which comes from their forthcoming EP of the same name. Expect more news about the full EP release soon.

HATCHET was formed in 2006 by teenagers that shared a mutual love for the bands that built their hometown Bay Area metal scene two decades prior. Bands such as Testament, Exodus, and the early work of then-Bay Area transplants Metallica infused the initial blueprint that informed HATCHET's sound. Signing to Metal Blade Records the group released ‘Awaiting Evil’ in 2008, followed by the release of three more albums on different labels – 2013's “Dawn of the End,” 2015's “Fear Beyond Lunacy,” and 2018's “Dying to Exist.” The group has also cemented their status as a live powerhouse, performing alongside acts such as Trivium, Soilwork, Flotsam and Jetsam, Metal Church, Raven, Warbringer, Misfits’ Doyle, Jeff Loomis, Kataklysm, Krisiun, Havok and Exmortus.

A few months back we introduced you to Sweden’s SMASH ATOMS, and their first single/video “Down.” Since #grungeisback has been a rallying cry and “Down” has been added to almost two dozen US commercial rock radio stations.

Eager to follow-up the relative success of their debut and build upon it SMASH ATOMS share “Into the Light” now on all streaming/download digital platforms, while the video can be viewed at HERE

“Smash Atoms are very excited to release the next single ‘Into the Light’ today,” responds Martin Söderqvist. “The song dives into the depths of mortality and traveling beyond this life to where ‘many have gone before but no-one has come back alive.’ ‘Into The Light’ mixes chromatic riffing with a melodic chorus, which together with Kenji Tsunami’s visual art, takes the listener on a special journey.”

Both songs come from the band’s impending debut full-length, expected at the end of summer. Highly influenced by the ‘90s SMASH ATOMS intend to bring it all back in a new form. The quartet’s enjoyment and intention when creating their first album was to highlight a familiar yet captivating sound. Check out the music video for first single “Down” or stream/download the track at all digital platforms.

While the influences are obvious, there is something charming, nostalgic and infectiously endearing about the group’s material culminating in what will surface as a very strong album recorded at Crehate Studios (In Flames, Scorpions, Avatar) in Gothenburg, Sweden.

SMASH ATOMS’ story actually originates back to 2012 when they formed, releasing one smashing demo and playing a handful of magical shows before U.S.-born singer Glen Gilbert stepped out and the remaining trio changed their name to THE TORCH with Martin now also handling vocals. The Torch recorded two albums, gaining national Swedish radio play and touring all over places like Scandinavia, Germany and Italy. But two years ago, Glen (The Story Behind, Hide the Knives) and the guys reconnected and decided to revert back to their former incarnation and give SMASH ATOMS another chance and here we are. Check out “Into the Light” and “Down” and anticipate more captivating songs in the coming months.
