Alejandro Duque Named Managing Director Of Universal Music Latino, Machete and Capitol Latin

Alejandro Duque has been a key factor in the success of artists such as Luis Fonsi, Juanes, J Balvin, Sebastián Yatra and Karol G, among others.

Alejandro Duque has been promoted to the post of managing director of Universal Music Latino, Machete and Capitol Latin.

Duque, 36, who holds a BA in Music Business & Management from Berklee College of Music in Boston, joined Universal Music in Colombia in 2005, where he was responsible for new media in the Andean Region. In 2007, he was promoted to Latin America Digital Manager and  two years later he became director of sales and business development for South Cone.

In 2012, he was promoted to vp of digital and business development for Latin America, a post he held until 2016, when he was appointed general manager, Universal Music Latino, Machete y Capitol Latin.

Duque has been a key factor in the success of artists such as Luis Fonsi, Juanes, J Balvin, Sebastián Yatra and Karol G, among others. He has also been instrumental not only to the operations of the digital business in the region, but also as a key member of the team that has grown Universal Music’s new business in Latin America.

In his new expanded role, Duque will oversee all projects, new signings, A&R and the marketing and digital teams for Latino, Machete and Capitol Latin. He will report directly to Gonzalez.
