Fall Crafternoon: Let's celebrate Diwali

Wednesday, October 193:15—4:15 PMChildren's RoomGleason Public Library22 Bedford Road, Carlisle, MA, 01741

Let's celebrate upcoming Diwali together! We'll read a fun Diwali picture book and create our own Rangoli craft with sand. Rangoli is a form of Indian folk art that features geometric designs, floral patterns, and depictions of deities. These designs are traditionally made using colored sand and created on floors or tabletops. Diwali is an Indian festival of lights that takes place every year during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika and lasts for five days. Diwali begins on Monday, October 24th this year. It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.

Fall Crafternoon is for children ages 5 through 10. Please bring a large, old t-shirt to wear as an art smock since some of the art materials can stain.  This program is made possible by our wonderful Friends of the Gleason Public Library.
