Name: Alison Thigpen

Title: Administrator for Programming and Events, Student Activities Office

Notre Dame career path: I originally hired in as the Assistant Band Director in 2007. In 2018, I transitioned to Director of Game Day Operations. Then in 2020, I began my current role as Administrator for Programming and Events in SAO.

Tell us about a positive mentoring experience that you've had, either as a mentor or a mentee: My experiences with the Thrive mentoring program have been extremely positive, both as a mentor and a mentee. In both instances, the formal sessions were just the start of great relationships, which still exist today!

What is your favorite book, podcast, or TedTalk?: The Fred Factor by Mark Sanborn is one of my favorites. It shares stories of individuals that go above and beyond in the workplace, and how simple acts of kindness can have a tremendous impact. A short read, but a great read!

What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?: Helping coordinate the pre-game flyovers at home football games during my time with the band. Being on the roof of the pressbox providing the timings to the flight crews was both nerve-wracking and a rush. It's a great feeling knowing you're helping give 80,000+ fans that experience. I was proud to help execute 15 on-time flyovers, including the Blue Angels and a B-2 Stealth Bomber!
