Dear UT Community,
The worldwide spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has understandably raised concerns in our community.
We are frequently communicating with Austin Public Health, monitoring the status of the virus and following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.
Based on current information from public health officials, all classes, programs and operations are continuing as usual on campus. The university is monitoring many trusted sources of information on COVID-19, and we will keep you informed and provide updates on our website as the situation evolves.
Following the recommendations of Austin Public Health, UT has implemented precautionary measures for those students, faculty members and staff members who have been traveling abroad. Anyone returning from CDC Level 2 and 3 travel advisory locations for coronavirus will be required to self-isolate for 14 days before returning to campus. This self-isolation applies to both university-sponsored and personal travel.
As spring break approaches, we encourage you to consider how travel plans could be affected by the spread of the virus. Please take precautions and consistently monitor the UT Restricted Regions list if you are going to travel internationally.
The best action each of us can take at this time is to follow the recommendations of public health officials and wash our hands regularly, avoid close contact with people who are sick and take other preventative measures.
We will work continuously during the coming days and weeks to provide timely information. Again, you can stay informed by consistently checking our website for updates, answers to FAQs, travel guidelines and more.
Sincerely,
Gregory L. Fenves
President
