Description

We are so excited to announce our first event of the year, a book talk by our very own, Richard Hiskes, retired Professor of Political Science and Founder of the Human Rights Minor. We hope you can join us to hear him speak about his new book, Suffer the Children: A Theoretical Foundation for the Human Rights of the Child.

Approximately 10 million children are enslaved and even more are engaged in forced labor. 13 percent of the world’s children live in poverty. Children’s future hangs in the balance because of the global climate crisis. As retired Professor Rich Hiskes argues in his recent book, Suffer the Children: A Theoretical Foundation for the Human Rights of the Child, the world does not really believe that human rights pertain to children despite the fact that the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) was ratified in 1989. Join us as Hiskes helps us understand why this is the case and what can be done about it.

This event also appears on the main events calendar tagged as brooks.
