Exclusive Premiere: Kailey Nicole – “She Gone”

Today, we are delighted to premiere Kailey Nicole’s latest single “She Gone.” We chatted with her to find out the meaning behind the tune and who she is as an artist.

The Story Behind “She Gone”

“She Gone,” available on digital streaming platforms tomorrow, is a power-ballad about a girl that leaves a bad relationship, and the strength in that. Kailey penned the tune, along with cowriter Noah Smith.

Based on what Kailey was experiencing at the time, the song reveals how difficult it can be to move on from a relationship that isn’t healthy. A person can leave their significant other, but can’t truly be free until their ex ceases contact. “It’s hard when you try to move on from somebody,” she shared. The song conveys the message of, “I’m gone, it’s over, you can’t get me back.”

The title is also a play on words. In certain parts of the country, people will say “she gone” after finishing, smashing, and throwing a beer can. The two thought it would be fitting, since alcohol interfered with the relationship that’s depicted in the song. Her cowriter initially had the lyric planned for a fun tune, but it ended up being very fitting for this situation.

In the Beginning

One of Kailey Nicole’s favorite memories of performing as a young girl was when she auditioned for the American Girl Theater when she was nine. The show was about a group of girls in a club who’d meet weekly and put on the hats of the American Girls to tell their stories. “To this day, it’s one of the best experiences I have ever had,” she said.

The experience helped her develop a passion for being on stage and ignited her career. A talent agent in the audience recognized her acting capabilities and asked whether she’d considered doing film or TV. Everything started to come together after that.

Special Skills

In addition to singing and acting, Kailey also has some special skills that she can leverage when needed. Kailey shared a funny story of when her ability to speak in different accents came in handy at a writers retreat in London. After hearing about her talent, a new acquaintance suggested she try to convince his friend Joe that they went to the same school. He gave her a list of things to say, like the name of the school, classes, etc, to make her story believable.

Joe was surprised they hadn’t met before and asked whether she was serious. Kailey dropped the accent and joked, “No, I’m just kidding, I’m from Vegas.”

She also has some stunt work and MMA experience under her belt. When she was young, Kailey participated in extreme martial arts, which helped her prepare for fighting scenes in film and television.
