Hats off to the more than thirty Girl Scouts who were presented with their Silver and Gold Awards at @Minnesota State University, Mankato this past Sunday! These young people were the first batch of #GoldAward and #SilverAward Girl Scouts to be pinned in recognition of their hard work and dedication to making their world a better place. Please join us in congratulating these #GirlScouts and the nearly 2,100 collective hours of community service work they put in to advance projects ranging from childhood literacy to women’s health and safety to environmental education and action. 👏👏 Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards—collectively known as #HighestAwards—are the highest honors Girl Scouts can earn, with each award giving Girl Scouts the chance to make their communities and the world a better place while learning essential leadership skills along the way. 🥇🥈🥉 Girl Scouts spend dozens of hours each learning about, researching, and tackling problems that matter to them and their communities, whether they want to improve their local parks, support vulnerable groups, or even change state law. Brava Girl Scouts! https://lnkd.in/gixukkmJ...

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision. While we celebrate this decision, we should also celebrate and more importantly, JOIN those fighting for equitable education for Black students in Minnesota. One group I personally admire is the Coalition to Increase Teachers of Color and American Indian Teachers in Minnesota. At Girl Scouts River Valleys I learned about their work when I noticed their bill introduction at the state, which was something GSRV was interested in supporting. This is just one of the groups working in MN, reach out to one today and learn how you can help make the dream of Brown a reality! #teachersofcoloract

91% of Gold Award Girl Scouts say pursuing this award developed their environmental stewardship. One of them is Anuska, now a freshman at University of Minnesota-Rochester pursuing a career in STEM. Anuska’s environmental awareness project sought to educate community members about simple actions they can take to help make the world a better place.
