Kelsea Ballerini is one of several young female singers who are poised to be future superstars of the genre. The Tennessee native,  who turned 24 just last month, was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2017 Grammys, won an ACM Award for New Female Artist of the Year, she’s performed with both Taylor Swift and Shania Twain, and is the only woman in country music to have her first three singles reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Airplay charts (all of which she co-wrote). Earlier this year the singer released “Legends” as the first single from her upcoming sophomore album — “Unapologetically,” due Nov. 3 and  and here Variety is pleased to premiere this acoustic version of the song.

“As a songwriter, I LOVE stripping songs down to the basics,” she says. “With ‘Legends’ being such a lyrical story, my band and I have ended up playing it like this quite a bit. It’s become a chameleon of a song and changes meaning on how you listen to it, but covers everything from loss to love, just like the entirety of the album. I’m so excited for people to hear the full story!”
