Get Help With Your 2024 Health Goals

As this year winds down, many of you may already be thinking about health goals for 2024. We have prepared a list of tip sheets, toolkits, videos and programs to help you on your wellness journey. 

FASAP Resources

Below is a list of resources from the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, a free and confidential service that provides support and resources for wellness, financial and legal challenges and much more. ComPsych, the world’s largest provider of employee assistance programs, administers FASAP. FASAP’s services are available to NC State faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars and house officers and members of their respective households. Eat Smart, Move More Programs

Weight Management

Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less is a 15-week online weight management program that uses proven weight-loss strategies to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. The program teaches participants about eating healthy and participating in physical activity. The next series of classes will begin in January.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina members, including State Health Plan members, can participate in the program for free. Each of the weight management program’s 15 sessions is covered at 100% as a telehealth group nutritional counseling visit. To participate in the program at no cost, complete this registration form and enter the following information:

  • Voucher/coupon code GNC2024
  • Your Blue Cross and Blue Shield subscriber ID number.

Nonmembers of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina can participate in the program by completing the registration form and paying a $235 fee.

Diabetes Prevention

Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-recognized program that uses proven strategies to help participants prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes. 

Participants meet with a lifestyle coach online to learn healthy eating and physical activity strategies. Three class options will begin in January. The program lasts 12 months. Go to the program’s website to register and decide whether you want to be in the session that begins Jan. 17, 21 or 22.  Lunchtime and evening time slots are available.

North Carolina residents pay $30 to participate in the program. Residents can receive a full refund if they meet the program requirements for class attendance and tracking their weight and physical activity. The cost for people who don’t live in North Carolina is $449 unless they have an employer-provided voucher code.
