Wasserman Center Internship Grant - Spring 2025
Description
The Wasserman Center Internship Grant and the Wasserman Center Global Internship Grant were established to provide financial assistance to students pursuing unpaid internships in qualifying industries* that do not traditionally pay their interns. The Wasserman Center offers grants during the fall, spring, and summer terms. For spring 2025, grant amounts will be $1,200. Applications are reviewed by Wasserman Center staff and representatives from various NYU academic departments.
Please keep in mind that the selection process is competitive and grants are not guaranteed.
*Qualifying internships must be held at organizations that do not traditionally pay their interns, which includes industries such as non-profits, the arts, fashion, media and journalism, etc.
To Apply
1. Make a copy of the WCIG Student Form (you must be logged into your NYU email) and fill in the requested information. Save as a PDF.
2. Click on “Apply Externally” in the Handshake job posting.
3. Respond to all survey questions.
4. Upload PDF versions of your current resume, unofficial transcript, and Student Form at the end of the survey. Only complete submissions will be considered for the grant.

DEADLINE TO APPLY is Thursday, February 20th at 11:59PM EST. Decisions are made approximately 4-6 weeks after the deadline and all applicants will be informed. Direct deposit will be processed for US citizens selected for the grant 2-3 weeks after decisions. Processing takes longer for international students due to tax regulations. Students who do not enroll in direct deposit will receive a mailed check to their address in Albert.
Qualifications
To apply, students must meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled (graduating May 2025 or later) in an undergraduate or graduate degree-granting program at one of the following NYU schools: College of Arts and Science · Gallatin School of Individualized Study · Graduate School of Arts and Science · Leonard N. Stern School of Business (Undergraduate only) · Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service · Rory Meyers College of Nursing · School of Global Public Health · School of Professional Studies · Silver School of Social Work · Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development · Tandon School of Engineering · Tisch School of the Arts
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Secured an unpaid internship at a non-profit or other organization that does not traditionally pay its interns (e.g. arts, entertainment, media, etc)
- Intern a minimum of 10 hours a week for at least 10 weeks during the spring. Cumulative hours will not be accepted.
*Note: Students studying at NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai, and schools not listed above are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply. Students may receive the Wasserman Center Internship Grant a maximum of 2 times per degree.
When reviewing submissions, the selection committee considers: quality of responses (substance, content, and writing), substance of internship, and demonstrated financial need.
