George G. Kennedy is currently Wm. Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor of Agriculture in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at North Carolina State University. He holds BS and PhD degrees in Entomology from Oregon State University and Cornell University, respectively. Kennedy teaches and conducts research in the area of insect management focusing on fundamental processes acting on pest populations at the landscape scale and factors involved at the insect-crop interface that influence plant damage, and on improving the efficiency and sustainability of arthropod management in agricultural crops.. His research has produced over 200 research publications and 4 co-edited books. He has served on numerous advisory panels to EPA, USDA, and the agricultural chemical industry, and as associate editor for the journal Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata. He served as President of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Entomological Foundation. Kennedy is a Fellow and Honorary Member of the ESA. In 2011, he received the Entomological Foundation Medal of Honor for exceptional contributions to entomology and society.
