He's getting more than his shirt printed — UT just offered the bullied boy a scholarship

• The University of Tennessee is offering admission to a boy bullied for his homemade UT shirt design.
• The university will also cover his tuition and fees.
• The boy made national headlines after his teacher shared a post about him being bullied.
• His design has been made into an actual T-shirt, which has 50,000 pre-orders.

A fourth-grade Florida boy bullied over his homemade shirt supporting the University of Tennessee could become a Vol, himself, after the university announced Thursday that it is offering him admission and a four-year scholarship. 

He would be a member of UT's Class of 2032. 

"University officials have spoken several times with the boy’s mother, who has expressed gratitude to the university and said the family has been deeply touched by the overwhelming outpouring from people around the world," read a UT news release. 

The boy made national headlines after being bullied by schoolmates over his clothing choice on "College Colors Day" — an orange shirt with an attached piece of paper featuring his hand-drawn UT design. 

The boy's teacher, Laura Snyder, posted on Facebook that the boy went from brimming with excitement to crying at his desk after being bullied at lunch.

She planned to get him a Vols T-shirt, but she didn't have to. Following thousands of comments and shares, the university responded by sending the school a package filled with Vols gear.

The university's campus store then turned his design into an actual T-shirt, which currently has more than 50,000 pre-orders. At one point, the website was down due to the overwhelming support. 

All of the proceeds from the shirts are going to STOMP Out Bullying. UT is covering the scholarship separately. 

The university is warning people that VolShop is the only official place to buy the shirt. Other sites selling the shirt do not have an agreement with the family or STOMP Out Bullying, according to a Tweet from UT. 

Snyder said in her updated Facebook post that the boy has "inspired and touched the lives of so many people."

Now, according to the news release, UT is "lighting the way for the young Vol fan who made his own UT T-shirt." 

The scholarship would cover his tuition and fees beginning in the fall of 2028 if he decides to attend UT. The boy must meet the admission requirements. 

Good news for him: The university has a graphic design program.
