Leppert wins gold at Junior Olympics

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force freshman Victoria Leppert earned a gold medal in air rifle at the 2023 Junior Olympic Championships at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
 
"I was really excited when I realized I had won. My face said it all," said Leppert. "I didn't realize I had won until I heard my teammates cheering for me."
 
This was Leppert's first time competing in a final at a national level match.
 
"I am good at going head-to-head with athletes, so I knew as long as I had fun with it and I wasn't too serious about it I would do fine," said Leppert. 
 
Leppert was the lone freshman on the Air Force rifle team this season. She set collegiate career highs in air rifle (581) and aggregate score (1173) against TCU on Oct. 2. Her smallbore collegiate career high came at Nebraska with a score of 594.
