Nashville chefs to cook live on Broadway during Music City Bowl

The Music City Bowl and Creation Gardens are bringing new meaning to the marketing phrase "branding the event."

In a 60 by 40-foot enclosure smack at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Broadway, Creation Gardens will host a live-fire cooking area with some of the city's best chefs fanning the flames. The food will be offered free to passersby downtown celebrating the big bowl game.

In a hot poker of genius, Creation Grades' marketing manager Ian Navarro says the company is having Tennessee and Nebraska branding irons made to sear team logos onto the roaster hogs on the spit.

Participating chefs include Edgar Pendley (Urban Grub), Levon Wallace (21C Museum Hotel), Jason Brumm (new A. Ray concept), Sal Avila (Prima), Nathan Duensing (Thompson Hotel), Vivek Surti (VEA Supperclub), Bryan Weaver (Butcher & Bee), Andrew Whitney (Virago) and Michael Sullivan (Creekston Farms) among others.

Look for tasty treats like roast hog, quail, chicken, chile and gumbo and breakfast burritos.

Navarro says they will be set up at the bustling intersection for two days, serving free food from around 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 29th and from 8.am. to around 1:30 p.m. on game day, Friday Dec. 30th.
