Navigating Housing Programs for People Experiencing Homelessness
Thursday, March 30, 2017 6:00:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time - 8:30:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time
Many individuals with mental health or substance use issues are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, or housed in environments unsuitable for recovery. The Overcoming Barriers to Housing webinar series, produced by SAMHSA’s Homeless and Housing Resource Network (HHRN), will provide guidance on helping individuals who are experiencing homelessness overcome common barriers to accessing safe and affordable permanent housing.
The second webinar in the series, Navigating Housing Programs for People Experiencing Homelessness, will provide an overview of the programs and resources in place to provide housing to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness. There are a number of programs that fund housing and services for people with behavioral health disorders experiencing homelessness, including those supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other state and federal agencies. The presenters will provide an overview of these programs and will discuss how they are funded and operate and who they serve.
