TODD IS WITH US IN FRAMINGHAM WITH WHAT WE KNOW. TODD: STATE POLICE HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THE SUSPECT SINCE NOVEMBER 20, AND THE U.S. MARSHALS HAVE BEEN ON THE CASE. THEY TRACKED THEM TO AN APARTMENT IN THE BRONX, WHERE THERE IS A MAJOR SCENE FOLLOWING THAT SHOOT OUT THIS MORNING. >> TO U.S. MARSHALS ARE SHOT. TODD: TWO DEPUTY MARSHALS WERE WOUNDED AFTER THE SHOOT OUT WITH ANDRE STERLING, FUGITIVE WHO POLICE PUT ON THEIR MOST WANTED LIST. CONSIDERED HIM ARMED AND DANGEROUS. STERLING WAS KILLED IN THE EXCHANGE OF GUNFIRE. A SECOND SUSPECT WHO LIVES IN THE APARTMENT WHERE THE SHOOT OUT HAPPEN WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH MINOR INJURIES. AND WHY PD WAS ALSO INJURED WHILE TRYING TO HELP THE DEPUTY MARSHALS. THE VIOLENT SCENE UNFOLDED AROUND 530 THIS MORNING IN THE BRONX. ANDRE STERLING WAS A SUSPECT ACCUSED OF SHOOTING MASSACHUSETTS STATE TROOPER JOHN LENNON DURING A TRAFFIC STOP OF EMBER 20 IN HYANNIS. >> I’VE BEEN SHOT. TODD: LENNON SUFFERED AN INJURY TO HIS HAND AND TORSO. HE IS LEAVING MASS GENERAL THREE DAYS LATER AS HIS FELLOW TROOPERS WERE SALUTING. STATE POLICE, BARNSTABLE PD REVEALED IN A PRESS RELEASE FOR MASSACHUSETTS STATE POLICE TROOPERS WERE PRESENT AT THE SCENE OF THIS MORNING’S OPERATION. THE TROOPERS WERE MAINTAINING A PERIMETER SOME DISTANCE FROM THE APARTMENT TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC. THE WOUNDED DEPUTY MARSHALS AND THE INJURED NYPD DETECTIVE ARE EXPECTED TO BE OK. MASSACHUSETTS STATE POLICE SAY TROOPER JOHN LENNON IS CONTINUING HIS RECOVERY.

A man wanted in connection with the shooting of a Massachusetts State Police trooper was shot and killed Friday during a confrontation with U.S. Marshals in New York, 5 Investigates reports.Andre K. Sterling, 35, was wanted on charges including armed assault with intent to murder in the Nov. 20 shooting of Trooper John Lennon, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Sterling was shot and killed during the confrontation in the Bronx. Two deputy U.S. Marshals with the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force suffered gunshot wounds in the shootout. The marshals were rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where they are in stable condition. A New York Police Department detective was also injured while trying to help the marshals.A second suspect, who lives in the apartment where the shootout happened, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Four Massachusetts State Police Troopers -- two members of the Department’s Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and two members from the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office -- were present at the scene of the shooting, officials said. The troopers were maintaining a perimeter to ensure the safety of the public.Lennon, 28, suffered the gunshot wound to his right hand during a traffic stop in Hyannis. The bullet went through his hand and struck his bulletproof vest in the area of his shoulder. He was treated for his wounds at Massachusetts General Hospital and later released. Lennon graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in May.
