As controversy about Confederate monuments in public spaces heats up across America, Indianapolis finds itself in the spotlight over a large memorial in Garfield Park dedicated to Confederate soldiers.

White nationalists and counter-protestors clash in Charlottesville on August 12. The rally, which lead to three deaths and several injuries, was planned in the wake of outrage by white nationalist groups over removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee.
