BTU School Reopening Checklist for Building Reps

Has the school verified that the following conditions have been met, per our MOA’s?

If no, the following can and should be grieved, if not remedied upon request in a timely manner.

* 1. PPE

60 day supply of various types of masks, eye protection, nitrate powder-free latex gloves, and gowns for staff coming into the building who will be delivering in-person services.

Fitted N95 masks for each nurse, sufficient for providing additional masks to nurses who see students or staff who exhibit COVID symptoms.

Schools with HVAC will have filters upgraded to the highest density filter that can be accommodated for that unit.

Portable air purifiers in all classrooms and learning spaces regularly occupied by students, when there is no HVAC, appropriate to the size of the room.

Air purifiers in the nurse’s office and medical waiting area.

Exhaust fans/systems in all bathrooms.

Air quality and ventilation testing, in accordance with the Harvard School of Public Health 5 Step Guide in a representative sampling of classrooms, with test results provided, and that reflect an air quality exchange rate of at least 3 per hour.

Indoor Air Quality data loggers installed in all BPS classrooms.

Sink in every Health Office.

Temperature readings between 68 - 78 degrees fahrenheit.

Temperature reports available daily that show the average building temperature at 7:00 am, 11:00 am and 3:00pm.

* 3. COVID Testing and Reporting

Weekly testing available for BTU members working in person.

Health Services will contact close contacts individually by phone for each individual case to inform the individual and provide the recommendations from BPHC regarding quarantine, testing, and recommend that the individual notify their primary health care provider.

Health Services and the Office of Communications will work with school leaders to notify all members of the school community, including related service providers who were providing in-person support at the school during the possible transmission time period, in writing via school messenger as soon as we have contacted or have made several attempts to contact the identified close contacts.”

School schedule and plan based first on staff “opting in”.

School Reopening Taskforce continues to meet weekly to review creative scheduling plans.

School leaders are to work collaboratively with their leadership team, including Building Reps, Faculty Senates and ILTs to recommend flexibility plans

Plans that require educators being directed in must go before the Reopening Task Force first.

BTU members and school administrators are encouraged to develop schedule and staffing adjustments to enable primarily remote classes and/or in person classes.
