As part of our ongoing evaluation of potential learning management systems, including a review of alternatives to our current Blackboard platform, we would like to invite you to attend upcoming in-person demonstration sessions hosted by Canvas & D2L (Brightspace).
As we continue to strengthen our academic programs and support student success, these LMS demonstrations are intended to give faculty a clear, shared understanding of our learning management system and the options it offers for course design, communication, assessment, and engagement. The purpose is not to mandate a particular way of teaching, but to ensure that we can make informed, collective choices about how we use the LMS to support sound pedagogy, consistency across courses and programs, and an effective student experience. These sessions will also highlight the academic technology, instructional design, and teaching and learning support available to you, so that faculty can fully leverage the LMS in ways that align with disciplinary goals and best practices.
Each session will include an overview of the platform’s capabilities, followed by time for questions and feedback. We encourage you to attend the session(s) that best fit your schedule. Your participation is vital to ensuring that any future LMS supports our shared commitment to student-centered, mission-aligned teaching and learning.
To ensure convenient access for all faculty, each vendor will offer one session on each campus.
