BSR/RESNET/ICC 301-2019, Standard for the Calculation and Labeling of the Energy Performance of Dwelling and Sleeping Units using an Energy Rating Index

Feb 21, 2018
The ANSI/RESNET/ICC standards are under “continuous maintenance” and several addenda to the first edition of Standard ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301-2014 have been approved. Approved addenda and additional revisions will be integrated in the body of the standard in the updated edition: 301-2019.
The current approved addenda that are integrated into the attached public review draft 301-2019 are:
  • Addendum A – Domestic Hot Water (DHW)
  • Addendum B – Innovative Design Requests (IDRs)
  • Addendum D – Adoption of ANSI/RESNET/ICC 380-2018 and Addendum A-2017
  • Addendum E – House Size Index Adjustment Factor (IAF)
  • Addendum G – LED lighting
The following three addenda are in various stages of development and public comment, so they are NOT part of the attached draft.
  • Addendum L – Duct Leak to Outside Exception
  • Addendum F – Insulation Grading Appendix
  • Addendum N – Inspections for Minimum Rated Features Appendix
Additional revisions to be incorporated in the updated 301-2019 edition provide improved criteria for attached dwelling and sleeping units developed by the Multifamily Sub-Committee (based on RESNET’s Guidelines for Multifamily Energy Ratings) and other improvements.
Several other continuous maintenance proposals submitted within the past six months are at an initial stage of review and project initiation.

All other proposed changes to 301-2014 are noted as tracked changes. Some are specific to multifamily, some are editorial, and some are in response to interpretations.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a notification of the official public comment period!
The public comment period will officially begin in early March 2, 2018 and a separate email communication will be sent.
