No part of the company had stronger growth during the first quarter, with sales of new digital products and services growing 25%.     Cumulus Media just completed the first of many financial maneuvers by one of radio’s biggest companies. Under two separate moves, Cumulus pushed back the due date of nearly all of its $675 million of debt to 2029. It will not only reduce its overall principal owed, but — more importantly — it will mean there’s no risk of a debt restructuring for the next several years.     Columbus Radio Group’s “Sunny 95” (94.7 WSNY) and Mix 107.9 (107.9 WVMX) have a pair of new morning shows on the air today. According to a news release, “Randi and Rice in the Morning” on Sunny 95 will be hosted by Columbus radio veteran Randi Rasor, who will be joined by newcomer DJ Rice.     Sarah Weaver, Program Director and Morning Show Co-Host of WKML “Today’s Country” 95.7 in Fayetteville, NC, has been named the first Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Country Radio Mentee, according to a news release. Weaver will also be afforded the chance to attend the 2025 Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Nashville, a marquee event for country radio.     New podcast launches dipped to their lowest number in more than a year last month. Listen Notes says 11,397 new shows debuted in April. That compares with an average of nearly 18,000 launches each month during the first quarter. There is no shortage of content to listen to, however.     Author Maria Konnikova became an international poker champion and the winner of more than a half-million dollars in tournament earnings — and inadvertently turned into a professional poker player all while researching her recent bestseller, “The Biggest Bluff.” And Nate Silver, the founder and former editor-in-chief of political and statistical analysis site FiveThirtyEight, has over $800,000 in lifetime poker tournament winnings, and his forthcoming book, “On the Edge,” is about gambling and risk.     The radio industry is currently enjoying a contest renaissance, with enthusiasm running high, especially among men and Black workers. In fact, newly shared research shows that among daily listeners of local radio, an overwhelming 79% express positive attitudes about contests, with more than half saying they’re likely to participate at least sometimes.
