ART INSTITUTE GETS NEW LIFE

The Art Institute Gets New Life

We’re celebrating art in Denver’s Golden Triangle neighborhood! JNS is tasked with transforming the former home of the Art Institute of Colorado into 194 studio apartments.

Originally built in 1962 and designed by Denver architects Piel Slater Small & Spenst, the ten-story building was home to the Art Institute of Colorado for 18 years. An innovative adaptive reuse project, our design approach will preserve the International Style of the original architecture and celebrate art throughout the property.

With custom art installations created from old photography equipment, intricate door details using light projected through numbered cutouts, and a parking garage wrapped in an abstract mural, Art Studios will fit seamlessly into the Golden Triangle Creative District. Check out the feature in Mile High CRE to see a rendering of the Art Garage.

Designing studio units inspires our creativity for living small, but amenities at Art Studios won’t be in short supply. Residents will have access to a rooftop lounge and deck with downtown & mountain views, a coworking space, a fitness room, a dog washing station, makers’ studio spaces, a music room and a bike barn.

Micro housing units

Art Studios will also house the Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) on the ground level. The CPAC space will be designed by Semple Brown Design and will include a storefront, two galleries, office space and a classroom for workshops.

We’ll be sharing progress updates throughout the new year as we work towards project completion in the first quarter of 2023!
