Stockton Shuts Down King’s 4-0

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (11-1-1) scored one goal in the first half and broke the game open with three goals in the second half for a 4-0 victory over King's College (Pa.) (5-6-1). The Ospreys posted their third straight win and extended their unbeaten streak to 10 matches (9-0-1).

Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) paced Stockton with two goals and an assist while four additional Ospreys found their way onto the scoresheet with points. Stockton outshot King's 21-8 in the contest.

Stockton scored the only goal that it would need just 5:05 into the game. LeDonne sent a pass from the left side toward the right post, where Brenna Clowney (Mullica Hill/Clearview) banged it home for an early 1-0 lead. The Ospreys held a 10-3 advantage in shots during half and led by one at the break.

Stockton put the game away with three goals in a 12-minute span of the second half. LeDonne got her first marker 4:58 into the period on a volley shot. A cross by Kiersten Reszkowski (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) was punched away by King's goalie Erica Blackburn, but the ball went right to LeDonne for the finish.

Less than six minutes later, LeDonne struck again, scoring on the rebound after a shot by Michelle Sander (Ewing/Notre Dame) went off the crossbar. The tally was LeDonne's seventh of the season and boosted the lead to 3-0.

In the 62nd minute, LeDonne fed a pass back to Sydney Williams (Millville/Millville) at the top of the box and Williams sent a high shot in under the crossbar for her team-leading eighth goal of the season to cap the scoring in the 4-0 triumph.

Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Harris (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake) made three saves to record her second shutout of the season. As a team, the Ospreys notched their eighth shutout in 13 games this year. Blackburn, also a freshman, finished with six saves for King's, including five in the first half to keep her team close.

Stockton will play at home again on Saturday when the Ospreys host William Paterson in an NJAC match at 1 p.m.
