Treasurer’s Report for Newsletter

At the AGM in November 2017 it was voted that the APCP should change its business status from that of an Unincorporated Organization to a Non –profit making Company Limited by Guarantee. The reason being that our annual turnover is now so great that we need to have the financial security of being a registered company. This was done with the support of the CSP and HCPC both of which had to give us permission to use the name Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists.

The APCP became a company at the end of February 2018 and our financial year will now move to start on the 1st April each year. We will have to account for the period 1st January – 31st March 2018 and I am waiting for these accounts to be returned from the accountants.

The changes will not make any difference to members on a day-to-day basis but you will have been informed of our new Bank account details for future subscriptions and payments.  Please ask us if you need the new details.

On the advice of our accountants we have now centralized all of the regional accounts into the main APCP account. This will make banking for the regions more straightforward and each region will be given a quarterly update on their finances.

The accounts for the year ending December 31st 2017 have been returned from the accountants.  We had a surplus of £22389. Our main income is from subscriptions and conference, with other courses providing the next largest income. Our biggest expenses are committee travel, course and conference expenses and the cost of administrators. The profit was largely due to decreased conference and course expenses in 2017 and we have saved over £12500 on printing expensesnow we have an online newsletter.

We have spent very little of our Research Bursary allowance over the last two years and so if you are thinking of a research project then please do apply. We have also put aside some money to fund some online training packages and we hope to have more information available soon.

I am due to step down at Treasurer at the end of the year and as yet do not have a successor, but I have agreed to carry on until we have completed our first year as a Company at the end of March 2019.
