Chestertown, Md. – Stockton University began the spring season by rowing in the Washington College Invitational on Friday evening. The Ospreys competed in races against Wellesley, Washington College, Pacific Lutheran, Cabrini and Bryn Mawr that were held on the Chester River.
The Stockton varsity eight rowed in a pair of races. The Ospreys finished second in their heat of three behind two-time defending NCAA champion Wellesley with a time of 6:30.40. In their second race, Stockton finished in 6:56.36 for third place behind Wellesley and Bryn Mawr.
The varsity eight featured of four 2023 MARC all-conference selections in
Emily Latshaw (Toms River/TR South),
Amber Hartzell (Merchantville/Haddon Hts.),
Madelynn Schina (Somerdale/Highland) and
Megan Baldwin (Brigantine/Holy Spirit).
Lexi Kripetz (Clinton/Voorhees),
Sydney Rowand (Barrington/Haddon Hts.),
Marissa Martinelli (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) and
Ashley Timm (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) rounded out the varsity eight.
Lorie Hendricks (Burlington/Doane Academy) was the coxswain.

Kelley Mason (Manhattan, N.Y./St. Vincent Ferrer), the Stockton second varsity eight finished second out of five behind Wellesley with a time of 6:22.46.

The Stockton varsity four rowed a time of 7:26.43 and placed third behind Cabrini and Bryn Mawr with Mason as the coxswain.

Reese Weirick (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley),
Ellen Hartshaw (Lehighton, Pa./King's Christian) and
Maria Fazio (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forrest Hills Northern) rowed in the race.
Stockton will host the Battle at Brigantine next weekend on March 29 at 4:00 p.m. and March 30 at 8:30 a.m.
