WASHINGTON (7News) — The students at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Southeast, D.C. were in for a huge surprise Tuesday morning.
Members of the Washington Wizards, including Wizards mascot G-Wiz, showed up at the school to hand out gifts, books, and pizza.
The players, coaches, Wizards Dancers, DJ Heat, and Mahogany Books all showed out to spread some holiday cheer to the students. And of course, they were left surprised and with smiling faces.
7News was at the school and caught the unexpected visit.
The team also made their rounds to surprise patients at the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Northwest, D.C.
They stopped by the hospital's Pediatric Rehab Inpatient unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Orthopedic Oncology unit, and the Cardiology unit to donate gifts and spend time with patients.
