Fire Cadets

Gresham Fire Cadet application

The Gresham Fire Cadet program provides opportunity for motivated young men and women to develop leadership, teamwork and responsibility skills while exploring the firefighting profession.

Many former cadets are now career firefighters or respond with volunteer fire agencies.

Qualifications

Cadet applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 15-20.
  • Maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5.

Application process

After submitting an application, prospective cadets will be contacted by email before our next First Nighter event.

  • During this event, applicants will be interviewed by a panel of their peers and will participate in a physical abilities test.
  • Before final acceptance into the program a background check will be performed, and proof of GPA must be submitted.
  • Because of the amount of training required, the program accepts new members only once a year. Applications are accepted year-round.

Once accepted into the program, cadets will learn about the tools, techniques and skills needed to assist with fireground operations.
