UC San Diego hosted the “Combatting Antisemitism and Islamophobia: Best Practices in Challenging Times,” presented by the Applied Research Center for Civility, an initiative of UC San Diego and the National Conflict Resolution Center. The conference took place September 22-23 at UC San Diego Park and Market.
The conference brought together thought leaders from around the country to discuss best practices for addressing religious intolerance, specifically Antisemitism and Islamophobia. Experts shared insights, multi-layered strategies and real-world experiences on working toward a better future.
This event was organized by the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) and recorded by UCSD TV as a resource for the Tritons Belong initiative.
Shortly after the 2024 U.S. presidential election, an insightful event featured academic presentations by Dahlia Scheindlin, an Israeli political analyst, pollster, and author of “The Crooked Timber of Democracy in Israel,” and Khalil Shikaki, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, as they explored public opinion within Israeli and Palestinian societies and discuss prospects for the future. Stephan Haggard led a dynamic and in-depth discussion with the speakers, bringing their perspectives together for an informative conversation.

Dialogue for Peace (DFP): Building Compassion and Understanding Across Difference is an initiative of Tritons Belong centering Peacemaking and Restorative Justice-based frameworks and curriculum.
DFP will encompass events and programs including professional development training fellowship opportunities to empower participants to become compassionate listeners and conflict resolution facilitators.
