I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Kent. I met him in band as a 6th grader and sat right next to him. He was a great guy, musician, (trombone) and friend throughput all of high school. We played in the band and orchestra together as well. He will be missed.

I was very saddened to hear that Kent has passed away recently due to COVID-19. He worked for me at the Sedalia Democrat as a stringer covering various sports events when I was sports editor in the mid-80s. In addition, my wife worked with his mother, Mary Jane, at the C.W. Flower Co. during the same time period. I was pleased to hear that he continued his career in journalism and became an award-winning writer/editor/photographer.
