The Line-Up

Mia Jackson

Mia Jackson is a bonafide Georgia peach (that’s Georgian for “native”). In 2017, she was selected as a “New Face” by the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, and Atlanta’s Creative Loafing named her the “Critic’s Choice Best Stand-Up” in the city. Jackson has toured nationally with Amy Schumer and is a featured comic at festivals and clubs across the country. Her first stand-up special aired in October 2018 as part of Unprotected Sets on EPIX. Jackson has appeared on NickMom’s Night Out, Viceland, Comedy Central’s This Week at the Comedy Cellar and was a semi-finalist on Season 9 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Her Comedy Central half hour special debuted in November 2019.

Rich Aronovitch

Rich Aronovitch has been seen on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Last Comic Standing and Gotham Comedy Live.  Aronovitch has been a recurring guest judge on Beat Bobby Flay, as well as 3 Men and a Chick Flick on W.E. Also, Aronovitch was on this season of Worst Cooks in America and has blown up recently on social media due to his hilarious comedy and silly dances.

Ali Sultan

Ali Sultan saw his first stand-up comedian when he moved to America from Yemen at the age of 15. He grew the desire to go on stage but first he needed to learn English. Sultan became the first Yemeni American to make a stand-up television network debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Sultan has been on Comedy Central’s Hart of The City with Kevin Hart. He filmed his Half Hour comedy special in Dubai for Comedy Central Arabia. He represented Minnesota and won the “Best in The Midwest” competition at Gildas LaughFest. His albums Happy to Be Here and Funny First can be heard on Spotify, Sirius Xm and have over 1 millions streams on Pandora. His last special from Drybar has over a million views on YouTube.

Ophira Eisenberg

Ophira Eisenberg is a Canadian-born stand-up comedian, writer, and host.  For nine years, she hosted NPR’s comedy trivia show Ask Me Another, where she interviewed and played silly games with hundreds of celebrities including Sir Patrick Stewart, Awkwafina, Rosie Perez, Yo-yo Ma, Bob The Drag Queen, Nick Kroll, Chelsea Handler, Jim Gaffigan, Michael C. Hall, and so many others.  She has appeared on Comedy Central, This Week at The Comedy Cellar, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, HBO’s Girls, Gotham Live, The Late Late Show, The Today Show, and more.  She was selected as one New York Magazine’s “Top 10 Comics that Funny People Find Funny,” and The New York Times called her a skilled comedian and storyteller with “bleakly stylish” humor.

Don’t miss the chance to laugh the night away with these comedians on SOPAC’s Mainstage!

About Laughs in the Loft Curator Joe Larson

Joe is a comedian, husband and father – the former makes the latter well….interesting.

When Joe met his now wife she loved how much he made her laugh. He warned her that while she finds it cute now, she may feel differently when he is unable to do anything but joke during the heat of an argument. As his wife eventually found out “you’re funny all the time!” can quickly turn into “Does everything have to be a joke?”

Perhaps it’s not his fault, Joe is after all a second generation comedian. Much to his parent’s dismay at the age of twenty, Joe went into the family business. Straight away he was chosen College Comedian of the Year at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival and shortly after he made the move to New York City where he paid his dues at any club that would give him the mic.

Joe has been on stage at some of the best rooms in the city including the famed Caroline’s On Broadway and Gotham Comedy Club. He was nominated “Best Up-And-Coming Comedian” at the NYC MAC Awards, was a finalist in both the prestigious Johnny Carson Great American Comedy Festival and Boston Comedy Festival and was part of the feature film Stand Up 360. Joe has also been seen on Gotham Comedy Live, NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” “Laughs” on FOX, the Tonight Show’s Laugh Squad and the Speed Channel. On radio he is a repeat guest on Bob and Tom and the Bennington Show.

Pre-pandemic Joe Larson had one of the hottest shows in Brooklyn. Sold out each time to standing room only, his show “Couleur Comedy” was a huge success. It brought together the hottest up-and-coming comedians with established pros for a dynamic and exciting evening. Now, a South Orange resident, Joe is bringing his show to SOPAC.
