ear the story of one of America’s most celebrated Fighter Groups the 475th. An all P-38 equipped lethal force that played a significant role in the Pacific South West Area as the Japanese attempting to control the island chains from the Philippines down to Australia. Planes of Fame Air Museum is honored to be the Home of this remarkable group of pilots and ground crew 
and you’re invited to visit their hanger which houses – 23 Skidoo. Three 475th Foundation board members will share key historical highlights including Charles Lindbergh’s time with the unit. Personal accounts by the grandsons of two distinguished pilots - Craig Taggart whos grandfather, Thomas Vincent Elliot earned 7 victories and David Madison who grandfather Harold Pete Madison pilot and co-founding of the Foundation will share their stories. Foundation President, Brad Ball will cover the group’s amazing record and contribution to victory over Japan and you’ll learn how the work of the 475th Foundation is keeping the memories and history alive now in its third generation. Bring your camera – P-38 Lightning 23 Skidoo is scheduled take to the skies following the presentation.
Kevin Thompson (POF Moderator and Aviation Historian) moderates the event and adds to presentations.
WHY: It is the Mission of Planes of Fame Air Museum to preserve aviation history, inspire interest in aviation, educate the public, and honor aviation pioneers and veterans. The Museum sponsors regular events in the form of inspirational experiences, educational presentations, flight demonstrations, and airshows in fulfillment of this mission.
